Children's Services - Autism Waiver Services

Respite Care:
Respite Care involves having a trained professional providing in-home supervision for your child so that parents or caregivers can take a break, go to dinner, do the grocery shopping or just have some time to themselves. Each approved child receives 168 hours of Respite Care during a 6 month period. Respite Care is not provided during hours that the parents are working.

Environmental Adaptations:
Each eligible child receives $1500.00 that may be used to make physical adaptations to their home that are necessary to ensure the health, welfare and safety of the child. Expenditures are capped at $1500.00 per 36 months; uses are determined on a case by case basis.

Therapeutic Behavioural Services:
Therapeutic Behavioral Services are behavioral intervention services provided to children under the age of 21 that are found to have a medical necessity for these services. This is a rehabilitative service, implemented on a 1:1 basis for the purpose of reducing maladaptive behaviors. Approved children are re-evaluated every 60 days, during which the state reviews each case to determine progression. Approvals and the number of allotted hours are subject to change following each evaluation.

Parents or guardians must be present during the implementation of this service, with the idea that they will acquire techniques from the aides and then gradually reduce the amount of services that are needed. This service may be provided in the child's home or in the community.

IISS - Intensive Individual Support Services:
This Waiver Program is designed as a bridge of success in the home or community environments. The program aims to prevent or defuse crisis, promote developmental and social skills, provide behavior management skills, give the participant a sense of security , and maintain impulse control.

Family Training:
Family Training is provided by Dr. Adeline Tryon, Psychologist and is designed to develop specific solutions to the problems you are experiencing with your child. These include, but are not limited to, eating, toileting, bedtime routines, or self-injurious behaviors
