Transitioning YouthFall 2012 Newsletter Dove Pointe provides a variety of services to local high school students as they begin the transition from school to work. We participate in the IEP process at the school and incorporate a flexible schedule of activities for the student based on his or her preferences, strengths, and skills. Each student is able to participate in a vocational evaluation to assess their current skill levels and needs for training. Then through our Employee Development Services program, students take part in a 16-week training class designed to prepare them for all parts of the work experience. We continue to also offer a wide variety of paid work opportunities for students of all levels, to encourage their continued learning and to build on their sense of accomplishment as they begin to bring home their first paycheck. Community job placement and job coaching are also offered to provide support and assistance for students to enter the world of work.
